• Version 1.3.5 - May 26, 2005
    • The three menu items that open the drawer and show a specific tab at the same time (Show ScratchPad View, Show Bookmark View and Show History View) now close the drawer if the drawer was already open and the specified tab already shown. The associated menu item renames to "Close xxxx View" in this case. This change allows you to use the same command-key combination to briefly open and close the drawer.
    • Rewrote the uninstaller AppleScript script to make it more robust. It also now always runs with Administrator privileges, and will therefore prompt you for a password.
    • Added manual uninstallation instructions to the Read Me document, just in case the Uninstaller doesn't work.
    • Added installation workaround instructions to the Read Me document for dealing with an Apple Installer error ("You cannot install your software on this volume. (null)") that seems to crop up when upgrading to newer versions of Concierge under Panther (OS X 10.3).
    • Various minor edge-case bugs found during regression testing were fixed. General cleanup of code modules.

  • Version 1.3.4 - May 24, 2005
    • Dragging and dropping Address Book items onto the Scratchpad in Tiger works as expected once again. In Tiger, you would get an alias to a temporary file rather than an Address Book record. - Thanks to François Cuneo for reporting this problem.
    • Added text to the registration dialog window to explain that the information entered in that window would be submitted over the Internet.

  • Version 1.3.3 - May 19, 2005
    • Tiger compatibility fixes! After a long, drawn-out battle we discovered that Concierge's preferences were causing Safari to intermittently crash on Tiger. Up to version 1.3.2, Concierge stored its preferences inside of Safari's preferences. With this change, Concierge's preferences now live in their own file (~/Library/Preferences/net.bti.Concierge.plist for those of you who want to know -- both of you).

The downside of this modification is that any preference settings you may have customized before have been lost. All preferences will revert to their original, just-shipped-from-the-factory default settings. However, the Scratchpad folders and links remain intact.

  • Version 1.3.2 - January 12, 2005
    • Fixed major problem where Scratchpad notes weren't being saved. - Thanks to Jay Condon for reporting this problem.
    • Tooltips are now internally dismantled when the drawer closes, to prevent the operating system from mistakenly showing one that is no longer visible.

  • Version 1.3.1 - January 9, 2005
    • Scratchpad Notes can now accept up to 32K of text, but only 2048 characters will be displayed in the tooltip text. - Thanks to Steven Bobb for reporting this problem.

  • Version 1.3.0 - January 4, 2005
    • Added Address Book support to the Scratchpad. Drag cards from Address Book to add a person or organization, or drag a group to create a folder-like entity containing the group's members. Cards sitting in the Scratchpad can be viewed and edited within Address Book. The cards in the Scratchpad are 'live' -- changes made to Address Book data by any application are immediately reflected within Concierge. The Related Bookmark Smart Folder searches the Address Book for related items and displays them.
    • Added 'Send Email' item to both the main Concierge menu and the contextual menu. This item is enabled whenever the selection within the Scratchpad consists of either Address Book cards or Concierge email links. If only a single Concierge email link is selected then the feature is identical to simply double-clicking the email link. If multiple items are selected, the addresses from all selected items are combined (with duplicates removed). If a Concierge email link is included in the selection, then the email subject defined within the link is used as the subject for the outbound message.
    • If you have tabbed browsing enabled in Safari, you can use the new "Open Item in Tab" menu item (found in both menus). This does what you'd expect. It's enabled only when all of the selected items are web URLs (not email or file links).
    • New Preference option: Show custom icons causes Concierge to display the custom icon (favicon.ico) for each site, rather than the generic Safari bookmark icon. This feature is enabled only when the Show bookmark icons is checked.
    • Changed the history bookmark handling for evaluation copies of Concierge. Previously, only a limited number of history items were loaded, and they were kind of random. Now, the full history for the current day -- only -- is loaded and made available. This should help people evaluate Concierge's Smart Folders and bookmark searching functions before purchasing.
    • Added "Close Drawer" menu item back to the contextual menu for the drawer. It was removed a few versions ago during a general cleanup.
    • You can now temporarily disable Concierge by pressing the shift key while launching Safari.
    • The Check For Updates feature now allows you to directly download the latest version without first going to the Concierge web page.
    • Reworked tooltip text for Concierge email links to be more readable.
    • Improved handling of expanded folders in all three views when the view contents are updated (expanded folders don't collapse as often as before). Also improved retention of previously-selected items under the same circumstances.
    • Fixed bugs where it was possible to create new items within Smart Folders in some circumstances.
    • Fixed even more inconsistencies between Scratchpad buttons and menu items.
    • Fixed menu item enabling issues when no Safari browser window was open.
    • The Related Bookmarks Smart Folder now sorts its contents by title.
    • Default Preference item changes: auto-focus is now off and auto-open-drawer is now "never". This change effects only first-time Concierge users.

  • Version 1.2.2 - December 21, 2004
    • Re-enabled the creation and editing of non-subfolder items at the top level of the Scratchpad view. Once again, you can create email links, notes and bookmarks outside of any site-specific subfolder.
    • Allow editing of top level "site folders" in the Scratchpad.
    • The Related History Smart Folder now groups its contents according to date, so all the history items from a single day wind up grouped into one folder.
    • New Preference control for enabling/disabling Smart Folders. - Thanks to Jay Condon for suggesting this feature.
    • Editing a site folder's description when Smart Folders are enabled now changes the search string the Smart Folders use to find items in the bookmarks and history files. The changes are visible immediately. This means you can (for example) create a top level folder named "Tiger" and have its embedded Smart Folders maintain up-to-date lists of your bookmarks and history items that contain the word "tiger" in them.
    • Default menu item shortcuts are now created in all cases where the shortcut wasn't defined (previously, if some shortcuts were defined then no new defaults would be installed).

  • Version 1.2.1 - December 20, 2004
    • Fixed crash bug involving non-subfolder items at the top level of the Scratchpad view during application launch. - Thanks to Lisa Douglass for reporting this problem.
    • The New Subfolder, New Note and New Email Link buttons in the Scratchpad are now enabled/disabled correctly.

  • Version 1.2.0 - December 19, 2004
    • The Scratchpad has a new feature: Smart Folders. Within each 'site folder' (eg, 'apple.com' or 'bti.net') you'll now find two additional subfolders:
      • Related Bookmarks: This subfolder will contain links taken from your Safari bookmark list that contain the site name somewhere in either the URL or the description.
      • Related History: Just like the previous item, but the list is taken from your surfing history instead.

Conceptually, the contents of a Smart Folder is the same as switching to the Bookmark or History tab view and then filtering the list by typing the site name into the search field. The only difference is that subfolders are not displayed within a Smart Folder. The Smart Folders' icons are colored a bit differently so you can pick them out of the crowd, and they change colors depending on whether they're empty or not. You cannot directly modify either the contents of a Smart Folder or the Smart Folder itself. - Thanks to Richard Hess for suggesting this feature.

    • The Scratchpad now accepts text during a drag and drop. The text becomes a Note object, with the first 30 characters of the text serving as the description. - Thanks to Jay Condon for suggesting this feature.
    • Three new menu items in the main Concierge menu: Show Scratchpad View, Show Bookmark View, Show History View. They do what you think they might do. - Thanks to Christopher Stone for suggesting this feature.
    • New bookmarks now appear in the Bookmarks view when the list is filtered by a search string.
    • New history items now appear in the History view when the list is filtered by a search string.
    • The search fields associated with both the Bookmarks and History tab views now retain their search history, up to 20 of your last searches. - Thanks to Richard Hess for suggesting this feature.
    • The contextual menu has been recreated and is much smaller, with only item-specific commands included rather than the entire main Concierge menu.
    • Concierge no longer attaches drawers to windows that are smaller than 350x200 pixels.
    • Fixed a crashing bug involving memory managment and the filtered bookmark/history lists.
    • Fixed enable/disabling problems with the New Subfolder, Edit Item and Delete Item menu/button actions. They weren't always enabled and disabled correctly, and sometimes the buttons and menu items were out of sync.
    • You can no longer drop dragged items into illegal Scratchpad locations.
    • The row height within all of the Concierge lists has been increased slightly in order to vertically center the text. - Thanks to Christopher Stone for reporting this problem.
    • Fixed -- again -- the problem of new History folders not being sorted in all cases.
    • The keyboard focus is finally moved to the drawer when the drawer is opened manually.

  • Version 1.1.2 - December 15, 2004
    • Fixed relatively rare crashing bug involving OS-driven updates to the Safari bookmarks and history views while a search field was active. - Thanks to Richard Hess for reporting this problem.
    • Fixed problem where the first folder created for the day in the history view when either 'Group by Date' or 'Group By Date Then Domain' options were chosen would wind up at the bottom of the list within already existing drawers.

  • Version 1.1.1 - December 13, 2004
    • Fixed misbehavior of browser window resizing when there wasn't quite enough room on the screen to show the soon-to-be-opened drawer. This happened primarily when the drawer was going to open on the left side of the browser window. - Thanks to Michael for reporting this problem.

  • Version 1.1.0 - December 12, 2004
    • Control- or right-clicking items in the drawer now changes the selection appropriately before the contextual menu appears. - Thanks to Jay Condon for reporting this problem.
    • You can no longer bring up more than one Preferences window. In fact, clicking outside the Preferences window now closes it.
    • Fixed problem with tooltips for Scratchpad items not always appearing, or not displaying the correct text.
    • Fixed problem with not always being able to delete newly-created notes until the next Safari session.
    • Added button to Registration dialog to allow an unregistered user to jump to the registration portion of our web site.
    • If the drawer was manually opened, it will now no longer automatically close when going to unknown sites even if the Preferences are set that way.
    • New preference for disabling the confirmation dialog that appears when you try to delete something. - Thanks to Jay Condon for suggesting this feature.
    • New preference for setting the font used in the Concierge drawer lists.
    • Added tooltips for all items in the Preference window.
    • Safari bookmarks and history items can now be displayed in Concierge. See the Read Me file for details.
    • New preference allows you assign/reassign/remove keyboard shortcuts for Concierge menu items. (This is good for PithHelmet users, as Concierge and PithHelmet both use one or two identical shortcuts.)

  • Version 1.0.5 - November 24, 2004
    • Multiple links dropped into Concierge are now inserted in their proper order, not reversed. - Thanks to Jay Condon for reporting this problem.

  • Version 1.0.4 - November 23, 2004
    • Fixed compatibility issue with PithHelmet. - Thanks to Christopher Stone for reporting this problem.

  • Version 1.0.3 - November 22, 2004
    • Changed edit button icon to a pencil. The old icon (a magnifying glass) reminded people of searching.
    • You can now drag Concierge items to other applications. All item types are supported, even notes (this is a handy way of copying notes to another app, like Word).

  • Version 1.0.2 - November 21, 2004
    • Fixed a problem with deleting top-level items from a Concierge drawer.
    • Added "Check for Updates" menu item to find new Concierge releases.
    • During drag and drop operations, Concierge now accepts the descriptions of links from Safari. A link taken from a web page will acquire the link text as the title; a link taken from Safari's bookmarks window will acquire the description as the title.
    • Dragging items from Concierge into Safari's bookmark drawer now works, with regards to the link description (the title from Concierge becomes the description within Safari).
    • You can now drag multiple bookmarks from Safari's bookmarks window into a Concierge drawer.
    • You can now drag subfolders from Safari's bookmarks window into a Concierge drawer.

  • Version 1.0.1 - November 21, 2004
    • Fixed bug with registered versions of Concierge not saving bookmarks under certain conditions.

  • Version 1.0.0 - November 20, 2004
    • Initial public release.
